George R. Downing
Downing – George Robert Downing, 62, of Sutter, died at his home yesterday morning 
following a short illness. A native of Indiana, he had lived in the area for the past 10 
years. An iron worker, he lived at the corner of Washington and Maple Streets in Sutter. 
Downing was a member of Iron Workers Local 118 of Sacramento. Survivors include his 
wife, Trena; two sons, James A Downing of Indiana and Robert M. Downing of Houston, 
Tx.; three brothers, William Downing of Walnut Creek, Woodrow Downing of Placerville, 
Paul Downing of New Mexico; a sister, Eleanor Carter of Fresno; and three grandchildren. 
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 10 a.m. at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. Burial 
will be in Sutter Cemetery
