Redlands Daily Facts; 03/12/2008 Jesus "Jess" Jimenez, a lifetime resident of the Redlands and Mentone area, died March 9 at the home of his son in Highland. He was 81. He was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Yucaipa to Francisco and Concepcion Jimenez and served in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne during World War II. He worked in the citrus industry and in construction and was a member of the Cement Masons union for more than 50 years. During his career, he was a foreman for Hess Construction and Matich Corp. He loved to travel and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid sports fan, favoring the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Dodgers, and he loved the challenge of a great crossword puzzle. His wife, Maria Jimenez, died in 2001. Survivors include his brother Paul Jimenez of Redlands; five sisters, Amelia Barber, Virginia Quintana and Olivia Jimenez-Murguia, all of Redlands, Eva Lemos of Highland and Adrienne Morales of Rialto; three sons, Frank Jimenez and wife Maggie of Highland, Jess Jimenez of Sydney, Australia, and Jaime Jimenez of Murrieta; one daughter, Hazel Colunga of San Bernardino; two step-sons, Hugo Garvey and Hemet and Bill Garvey of Kingman, Ariz.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation is 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, followed by a service at 9:30, both at Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, 703 Brookside Ave., Redlands.
