Ukiah Daily Journal; Date Unknown A Native women from Mendocino County Muriel Grace McCoy was born to Dorothy & Mervin Britton of Covelo on August 28, 1940. As in life, as in death Muriel was surrounded by her family as she passed away on September 19, 2006. She leaves behind her siblings, sister Sharron Howe of South Dakota and her family, brother Mervin "Butch" Britton of Upper Lake. Muriel married the love of her life Norman McCoy shortly after high school and started their family. Muriel was full of life, as grown up she loved to play sports while in school. Moving on with life she got together her own co-ed softball traveling team, she was a pool shark. She played many years for "Hoppers Corner" & "Taylors Tavern". Every year Muriel's family would get together and camp at Lake Mendocino. She never missed a year. We could go on and on about what Muriel "Mom" loved to do but there is one more thing. She love to hang out and go out of town with her basket weaving crew, "Cora", "Kathy" and many "others" but most of all the most important part of her life was being with her family.
