All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. Ukiah Daily Journal, Sunday, June 6, 1993, Pg A12 Hazel Ruth Dunsing, 88, died Friday, June 4, at home in Ukiah. Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Eversole Mortuary in Ukiah. A service is scheduled at 11 a.m. Monday, also at Eversole's. Mrs. Dunsing was born in 1905 in Fort Bragg, where she lived until 1962. She then moved to the Ukiah Valley. She is a member of an early Mendocino County pioneer family. Her grandfather. John Sutherland, was stationed at Fort Humboldt in Eureka during the mid-1800's. Her mother, Daisy Bell Sutherland, was a Pomo Indian. Mrs. Dunsing had 16 children which she raised on her own after her husband Elmer Dunsing's death in 1947. She was preceded in death by her daughters Shirley Piver and Joan McNabb, and sons Dennis Dunsing and Wayne Aldrich. She has many friends and family who will mourn her loss. She is survived by her sons Russell Dunsing of Monroe, Wash., Arthur Dunsing, Mervin Dunsing and Elmer Dunsing of Ukiah, Michael Dunsing of Cloverdale, Gary Dunsing of Redding, Richard Dunsing of Potter Valley; her daughters Patricia Dunsing, Jacqueline Carey and Gladys Dunsing of Ukiah, Loretta Davenport of Fort Bragg and Marion Butterworth of Buhl, Idaho; her sister Etta Richards of Fort Bragg; 49 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Plowshares Community Dining Room of Ukiah.
