Her mother, two sisters, one brother, husband and little Eunice, two years old the first of last March, survive her. A loving daughter, an affectionate sister, a devoted wife and mother, is at rest. Free from the trials and sorrows incident to this life, she will await the coming of the Judgment Day. She was but gone a few days before, to await just across the Dark Valleyof the Shadow of Death, to bid von welcome to those Elysian Fields where all is light and darkness never comes, whereroses bloon throughout Eternity. May the asphodel and rue wave in gentle zephyrs above her grave. E.F. Colusa Sun; August 2, 1890 IN MEMORIAM BURTIS-At Sycamore Slough, Thursday, July 24th, 1890, Mrs. Ada Nelson Burtis, Aged 24 years and 14 days. Death has again visited the community and summoned from our midst Ada the beloved wife of Stephen Burtis Jr. Ada was born and raised to womanhood in the town of sycamore. She was the daughter of Luke and Annie Nelson. Her mother, two sisters and one brother survive her, also her little daughter Eunice two years old; too young to appriciate her loss. or remember her mother's love. Ada was twenty-four years of age, and it is sad to record the taking of one so young. But yesterday, her mother-in-law was called to her eternal home, today the summons comes, and Ada is called away to dwell forever in the window- less mansion of never ending rest. She was beloved by all who knew her. Her endearing and gentle nature drew with silken ties her friends around her. Death is in the world and the spoiler is among the works of the Almighty, and all the endearing attention a husband could give, all the care that a mother and sister could render, all the attention of friends, all of the skill of the physician, could not forestall his stern decree. The silver cord that bound her pure spirit to earth is broken and she has left a legsey more precious than silver or gold, a name without a blemish, a name that will ever be enblasened in the hearts of all who knew her.
