JOAQUIN QUINTANA was born on the Quintana ranch, San Luis Obispo County, December 19, 1862, and is a son of Pedro and Luz, nee Herrera, Quintana. The subject of this sketch passed his childhood on the ranch, after which he attended school at Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, receiving a good education in these cities. In August, 1889, in company with his brother and Mr. Masterson, he engaged in the general merchandise business, under the firm name of Quintana Brothers & Masterson, their establishment being located at the corner of Chorro and Monterey streets. Mr. Quintana is the senior member of this firm, a firm which merits the respect and confidence of all who have dealings with them. Mr. Quintana was married in 1884, and has three children.
