All persons donating to this site retain the rights to their own work. PANAMA-CALIFORNIA EXPOSITION COMMISSION RUSSELL C. ALLEN, of San Diego, was born in Boston on January 27, 1859. He lived in Cambridge for some time, graduating from Harvard in 1880, then attended Columbia Law School, and was in a law office in Wall Street, New York, until 1882, when he decided that he wanted to live an outdoor life. He went to San Diego, California, and bought a fruit ranch in Sweetwater Valley, several miles from the city. He is now chairman of the Buildings and Grounds Committee of the San Diego Exposition.
